South Pointe, Fort Mill girls earn hoops wins

The South Pointe girls raced to a 15-point lead after one quarter and defeated the York Cougars 80-22 in Region 3-AAAA basketball action at York.

The win improved South Pointe to 6-3 overall.

Fort Mill 51, Northwestern 48

The Yellow Jackets came from behind in the fourth quarter and claimed a three-point win over the Trojans in Region 3-AAAA play at Fort Mill.

The win improved Fort Mill to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the region.

Northwestern 61, Fort Mill 50

The Trojans raced to a 32-16 halftime lead and made it stand up for a victory over the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets in a Region 3-AAAA contest at Fort Mill.

Clenzo Ross had 16 points in the second half to key the win for Northwestern.

Clover 57, Lancaster 49

Alex Thompson scored 18 points to lead Clover to its second Region 3 win Tuesday night against Lancaster. R.J. Moore added 12 for the Blue Eagles, who improved to 9-5 overall. Lancaster fell to 4-8, 0-3 in region play.


Fort Mill won a pair of Region 3-AAAA matches in a four-team meet at Nation Ford. The Yellow Jackets defeated the South Pointe Stallions and the Lancaster Bruins. The Nation Ford Falcons topped Lancaster, while South Pointe beat Nation Ford.

The top-ranked Rock Hill Bearcats defeated the York Cougars 46-20 in a Region 3-AAAA match.
