The HeraldFebruary 4, 2014

— Rock Hill police found a new bottle of lighter fluid beside a car that was fully engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived to the scene.

The car was found at 2 a.m. Sunday burning in the 300 block of Robertson Road, according to a police report. The lighter fluid was by the driver's side door on the ground.

Firefighters extinguished the flames, and officials tracked down the car's owner at his home on Stonewall Street. The 63-year-old man still had the keys to the vehicle and said someone stole it from his driveway while he was sleeping, the report states.

An arson unit investigated the blaze. The vehicle was valued at $18,000.
