Eric Jay Joseph

A York County man has died two weeks after being found on the side of the road, according to the York County sheriff’s office.

Eric Jay Joseph, 49, was found by a passerby, unconscious, on Jan. 31 near the corner of Soulsville and Stan Stella Roads in Rock Hill, according to a previous statement from the sheriff’s office. Several days after the incident, officials were asking the public to help them identify what may have happened to Joseph, who had injuries to his face and head.

On Friday, Joseph died at a hospital.

The sheriff’s office has handed over the investigation to the State Highway Patrol, said spokesperson Trent Faris, because all medical indicators show that Joseph was hit by a car.
