Two men were arrested after someone reported hearing shots fired near Southland Park in Rock Hill.

Rock Hill Police were sent to the Southland Park area after reports of gunfire and two black men hiding behind a home. When officers arrived, they spoke with Nigel Kirk, 18, and Datoine Smalls, 20, who both admitted to shooting a gun.

A .32-caliber pistol was found in the nearby woodline, and police determined the gun was listed as stolen.

After both men were taken to the Rock Hill City Jail, officers found a bullet matching the gun in Smalls’ pocket.

Kirk and Smalls were each charged with possession of a stolen pistol, carrying a pistol unlawfully and discharging a firearm within city limits.
