— Warrants have been issued for a Rock Hill man who police say assaulted his girlfriend, choking her to the point that she dropped their infant child to the ground on Tuesday.

Police were sent to a South Spruce Street home at about 2:45 p.m. after receiving word of an assault, according to a Rock Hill police report. The victim, 20, told police that her boyfriend’s sister called her earlier. When the boyfriend asked who she was speaking to, the victim remained quiet before they both started arguing.

The dispute became physical when her boyfriend hit her, the report states. The boyfriend’s sister told police that when she went to the house, the victim ran outside crying, the report states. That’s when the boyfriend grabbed the victim’s neck with his hands and began choking her, causing her to drop their child. The baby’s age and gender were not available.

It was unclear if the baby was hurt in the fall.

Police issued a warrant against the man, whose name was not released, and he will be charged with criminal domestic violence, the report states. The victim and suspect live together and have one child in common.
