— A York woman told police she caught a teen she thinks set her pine tree on fire Wednesday, according to a police report.

The woman was driving home when she saw the base of a pine tree on fire in her yard about 25 yards from her home. She was able to drop off her daughters and put out the fire with a garden hose, according to the report.

She told police she caught the young teenage male cutting through her neighbor’s yard and told him she knew he had set the fire and to get in her car. According to the report, the boy replied, “I didn’t do it, he did it,” before running off in the direction of York Place on Kings Mountain Street.

Fire officials determined that the fire was unnatural. The police’s K-9 unit was unable to track the suspect down.
