There are no surprises on the 2014-2015 Rock Hill school district calendar, which received final approval last night from school board members.

Schools begin Wednesday, Aug. 20 and run until June 4, a similar schedule to this year’s Aug. 21- June 4 schedule. Teachers will go back one week earlier.

Students will have at least one holiday a month, including Labor Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Memorial Day, in addition to several other breaks.

Next year’s winter break will last a full two weeks in Rock Hill, running from Saturday, Dec. 20 until students and teachers go back in 2015 on Monday, Jan. 5. Spring break, like this year, will be the week before Easter, spanning from Saturday, March 28 through Monday, April 6, although teachers have a work day on April 6.

The last days of school will be June 3 and 4, both of which are half days, and graduation for South Pointe, Northwestern and Rock Hill High School will be held on Saturday, June 6.

As required by South Carolina law, three days have been designated “Bad Weather Make-Up Days.” They include teacher workdays on Jan. 16 and April 6 and Memorial Day, May 25.
