— A 20-year-old mother of a toddler told police that the father of her child beat her in the head and face after she tried to get money toward care for the child, according to a police report.

The attack was so severe that officers who met with the victim reported she had multiple injuries to her face and head, a swollen and cut lip, and her hair had been pulled out of her head.

The woman told officers she arranged to meet the father, Dominique Julius Agurs, 27, Wednesday afternoon at a house on Lige Street and met him on the side of the road. The woman asked the man about “another woman” and the father allegedly “became incensed,” grabbing the victim by the hair and repeatedly hitting her. The woman told officers she tried to run away but the man caught her and beat her up again before other people pulled him off the victim.

Police also interviewed a friend of the woman who corroborated what she told police. Agurs was found Thursday and charged with criminal domestic violence. In a bond hearing at Rock Hill municipal court Thursday afternoon, a judge gave Agurs a $3,500 bond, and also ordered that he have no contact with the victim.

Agurs has pending drugs and weapons charges against him in York County criminal court from an arrest in March 2013, online court records show, including third offense trafficking of crack cocaine.
