A Rock Hill man was arrested during a traffic stop after officers found a loaded pistol under the driver’s seat of his car, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

Michael Christopher Rockholt, 39, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with careless driving, carrying a pistol unlawfully, and operating an uninsured vehicle, the report states.

According to the report, Rockholt stopped his car for police after he crossed lanes on North Anderson Road multiple times. Rockholt told police he was texting while driving and provided police with an expired insurance card.

While he was pulled over, an officer also noticed a gun box in the backseat. During a full check of the car, police found a loaded 0.40 caliber semi-automatic pistol under Rockholt’s seat.

The gun contained six rounds of live ammunition, the report said.

Rockholt’s concealed weapons permit was revoked at the end of January. He was taken to Rock Hill City Jail.
