Pre-revolutionary basket stolen from York home

— A York woman reported a sterling silver basket that predates the American Revolution was stolen from her home, according to a York Police report.

The woman notified police Friday of the theft, which happened sometime last year before Thanksgiving, according to the report.

The basket, which was made in 1761, was last valued at $3,800 in 1980. The woman told police she realized it was missing from her attic during Thanksgiving and suspects it was taken during a burglary.

The silver basket once adorned the household dining table but was moved to the attic during several home improvement projects, the report states.
