— A 12-year-old boy from Hickory Grove found 18 grams of marijuana on Sunday afternoon while he was playing at Winthrop Lake in Rock Hill.

Winthrop University’s Campus Police confiscated the drug after the boy and his mother reported finding marijuana around 3:40 p.m. The marijuana was inside a pill bottle on the banks of the lake, according to a police report.

Police have closed the case due to a lack of leads on who the marijuana belonged to.

The boy and his mother told officers they did not see anyone around the area when they found the drugs.
