ROCK HILL — Five Rock Hill car owners reported that someone shot out their car windows with BB guns between Monday and Tuesday, according to police. One homeowner told authorities that he had to duck to the ground when the suspects fired off the guns while he was in his front yard.
At about 8 a.m. Tuesday, police spoke with a man at a home near Oakwood Acres Park who reported that a blue Honda parked in front of his house was shot with a BB gun, according to a Rock Hill police report. He told police he would speak with the car’s owner, a 30-year-old woman.
On nearby Williams Street, a 51-year-old car owner told police someone shot the back window of her car with a BB gun, police documents show. Another neighbor on Williams Street told police he parked his car in his driveway and found the car’s back windows shot with a BB gun Tuesday morning. On Marett Boulevard, a man, 55, reported that the back window of his car had been shot with a BB gun.
One man, who lives on Tillman Street, told police he saw two people in a dark-colored sports utility vehicle shoot his Ford Edge and then drive south onto University Drive, according to police documents. The man told police he was standing in his front yard when he noticed the car circle the block twice. On the second pass, he saw the car’s left rear window open and heard three cracks that he recognized as coming from a gas-powered BB gun or .22 caliber pistol.
He ducked to the ground and heard one of the shots hit his car, the report states. He saw only two people in the car, but was unable to write down a license plate number or give police a more detailed description of the suspects.
