Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Candy Boy, with Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens riding, put in a workout Friday morning at Santa Anita for the $1 million Santa Anita Derby on April 5.

Trained by John Sadler, the Robert B. Lewis Stakes winner covered five furlongs in 59 2/5 seconds.

"He went really well," Sadler said of Candy Boy. "He looked very sharp. He'll have two more works before the race."

Candy Boy, owned by C R K Stable, posted a half-length win over Chitu in the 1 1/16-mile Lewis in his first start of the year. The colt was second in the CashCall Futurity in December at Hollywood Park just three weeks after breaking his maiden.

The 3-year-old has two wins and two seconds in six starts for $305,600.
