ROCK HILL — A Rock Hill man riding in a car where police found nearly 30 grams of marijuana was arrested after authorities say he pointed a gun at a woman who argued with his female passenger while they waited at a McDonald’s drive-thru Friday night.
Police were sent to the McDonald’s on East Main Street at about 10:30 p.m. when a woman, 27, reported that a woman and man in a black Lincoln Navigator argued with her in the restaurant’s parking lot, and the man pointed a gun at her during the incident, according to a Rock Hill police report. When police arrived, they found the car illegally parked in a handicap parking space. As police approached the car, a woman, later identified as Tiernee-Ann Whitmore, 23, walked out of the restaurant and towards the driver’s side of the car. Police stopped her and began speaking with witnesses. Some time later, a man, identified as Bryan Terrell Mitchell, 29, also walked out of McDonald’s and towards the car.
Witnesses and the victim told officers that Mitchell was the same man who pointed a gun at the victim, the report states. Police found a loaded gun in the back left pocket of his jeans. Mitchell told police he did not have a concealed weapons permit.
Police learned the incident started when Whitmore and the victim began arguing while waiting at the drive-thru, the report states. The victim was in front of Whitmore and Mitchell. Officers searched the car and found a Mason jar filled with 29 grams of pot. After they were taken to jail, Whitmore and Mitchell both told police the drugs did not belong to them. Police confiscated $345 from Mitchell’s pocket.
He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana within proximity to a school, pointing and presenting a firearm and unlawfully carrying a weapon. By Monday morning, he was held at the York County Detention Center on a $80,000 bond. Whitmore was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana within proximity to a school and public disorderly conduct. She has since been released from jail, but when is unclear.
