High school roundup: Hilton medals, leads Falcons to wins

Riley Hilton fired a 39 to claim medalist honors and lead the Nation Ford Falcons to a pair of wins in a Region 3-AAAA tri-match at Spring Lake Country Club in York.

Nation Ford: Riley Hilton 39, Jack Burson 40, Will Grantham 43, Will Howell 47.

York: Chandler Sain 42, Austin Hall 43, Tucker Laney 44, Landon Joye 46.

Rock Hill: Coble Panetti 40, Will Warner 46, Fred Croom 50, Charles Baxley 50.

Records: York 1-5, Rock Hill 1-4.

Nation Ford 7, York 0

BOYS’ SOCCER

Clover 5, Lancaster 0: The Clover Blue Eagles got goals from Ashanti Long, Mitch Johnson, Brandon LaForge, Christian Berardo, and Manny Vargas and defeated the Lancaster Bruins 5-0 in a Region 3-AAAA match at Clover.

York 2, Nation Ford 1: Benji Amezcua scored the game-winning goal in the last seconds of play to lead the York Cougars to a 2-1 win over the Nation Ford Falcons in a Region 3-AAAA battle at York.

Buddy Anderson scored the first goal for the Cougars. Todd Weatherington, Joey Xiong, Juan Amezcua and Thomas Shirley played solid defense for the Cougars.

Clover 9, Lancaster 1: The Clover Blue Eagles pounded out 13 hits and defeated the Lancaster Bruins 9-1 in Region 3-AAAA action at Lancaster.

Michelle Aragon and Blake Wallert had three hits each to lead Clover. Elizabeth Edmunds pitched a complete game two-hitter and struck out six batters in recording the victory.
