— A disagreement about family members turned physical for a Rock Hill woman and her boyfriend when she told police he slammed her into a closet door, pinned her down and disrespected her mother, whom the victim had to restrain last week, authorities said.

On Thursday, police arrested Larry Roberts, 22, of Charlotte, charging him with third-degree assault and battery in connection with the Mar. 28 alleged attack on his girlfriend, 21.

At about 8:30 a.m. Mar. 28, the woman went to the police station and told officers that she was getting ready for work when she and Roberts, who spent the night at her Hardin Street home, began arguing about one of them not liking family members, according to a Rock Hill police report. The girlfriend told police she tried to deescalate the situation, but the argument continued and became physical when Roberts allegedly pushed her into a closet door.

The two began to fight, the report states, until Roberts pinned his girlfriend down by bracing his body against hers. The victim told Roberts their relationship was over and he needed to pack his things and leave. Roberts became upset again, while the victim's mother arrived. The victim told police she had to restrain her mother, upset that Roberts was disrespecting her. Roberts got in his car and left the house.

Police noted that the victim suffered from minor injuries. She told authorities that she had a bad headache and would seek medical treatment. Police issued warrants for Roberts, charging him with third-degree assault and battery. He was arrested on Thursday.
