— A small fire was reported Tuesday afternoon at Rawlinson Road Middle School in Rock Hill.

Around 3:10, an electric wall heater outside the boy's bathroom caught on fire, said Rock Hill school district spokesperson Elaine Baker. A staff member used a fire extinguisher and the fire department was called.

The fire was a "small electrical fire," said battalion chief Rusty Myers and it was extinguished before the fire department arrived.

All students and staff were safely evacuated and students were dismissed at 3:45 p.m.

On the school's official Twitter account, physical education coaches Becky Browning and Jon Bryant were praised for their actions. Bryant noticed the fire, pulled the fire alarm to alert the school and used an extinguisher to put out the fire and Browning "evacuated students quickly and safely."
