Music Matinee 2014 at Amos’ Southend in Charlotte Sunday, presented by Michael Tracy of The Michael Tracy Band, brings together a tantalizing assortment of local up and coming musical artists and bands plus a couple of regional groups to boot.

Touted to be an “American melting pot of music designed to appeal to whatever your taste,” this special showcase will also benefit The Wounded Warrior Project, the nonprofit organization serving wounded veterans US armed forces.

The lineup is eclectic with a decidedly rock ’n country Americana-esque style from The Michael Tracy Band along with Halden Vang, The Joe Davis Band, and Fiftywatt Freight Train to name a few acts.

As for Michael Tracy and band, they send out a sound variety of rock ‘n’ roll, blues, 70s hard rock, classic rock, country and southern rock. Front man/guitarist/singer-songwriter and namesake Tracy is ably assisted by Boo English, lead guitar; Roey Haviv, bass; and Loren Bates, drums.

Tracy explains his overall musical aim, saying “I take what I do very seriously and with intention to poetically speak of love, hope, philosophy, religion, politics and living life fully – which works in the craft of songwriting and placing lyrics over American rock ’n roll.”

As far as the target for this fundraiser, “On a personal level, being a veteran with a lot of family members who are veterans, the WWP really hits home. But my real love of WWP is how they’ve been on the forefront, keeping the sacrifices of our soldiers in the public eye, especially with a war-weary public, during a time where a lot of media don’t seem as interested as they once were. The WWP does an incredible job.”

Getting the gig together was a big task but Tracy found help. “I was amazed and touched how quickly all the bands and sponsors jumped on board, and all of those who have been such great help.”

Everything is ready for a sizzling Sunday soiree at the Music Matinee 2014 benefit for The Wounded Warrior Project at Amos’ Southend, 1423 S. Tryon St., Charlotte. Others bands are Clee & Sheridan of Simplified, Josh Daniel/Mark Schimick Project, Southern Experience Band, Randy Paul, Andrew Scotchie & The River Rats, Andy Buckner & Southern Soul Campaign, Funky Geezer, Rock U, Road Show Band.
