Doctors, lawmakers scheduled to attend Rock Hill healthcare forum

A York County conservative political action committee will host a forum on healthcare next week with lawmakers and medical professionals.

The event is Tuesday in Rock Hill at the Magnolia Room in the Laurel Creek neighborhood. The forum is free and questions will be taken at the end of the panel discussion.

GPS Conservatives for Action political action committee is sponsoring the forum about how the Affordable Care Act impacts people in South Carolina. The event starts at 7 p.m.

Featured guests include:

Dr. Thomas Kendall, president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. Kendall specializes in family medicine.

U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney, Republican representing the 5th Congressional District, which includes York and Lancaster counties.

S.C. Rep. Ralph Norman, Republican representing the 48th House District.

Watts Huckabee Sr., owner of the Carolina Insurance and Investment Group.

Dr. Norman Taylor, president of the Rock Hill Gynecology and Obstetrical Associates and the former president of the York County Medical Society.

The deadline to sign up for healthcare insurance through the Affordable Care Act's online marketplace was March 31. Open enrollment will begin again on November 15, 2014.
