The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner's Office informed York County authorities about the deaths Monday morning.

Brian Pritchett, 31, of Charlotte was pronounced dead at Carolinas Medical Center after he was injured in a three-car accident on Springfield Parkway in Fort Mill Friday, according to a news release from the York County Coroner's Office.

The crash happened at about 7:45 p.m. and involved at least four people, according to a Fort Mill police report. The driver of one of the cars suffered minor injuries, but her passenger and the driver of the third car walked away without injuries, said Fort Mill Police Maj. Bryan Zachary. The crash is still under investigation.

On Thursday, Boyce Oates, 92, of York was critically injured in a car crash on North Congress Street after police say the Lincoln Continental he was driving crossed the center of the roadway and smashed into a tree, York Police Lt. Rich Caddell said on Monday.

Because of his injuries, he was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he died of his injuries on Saturday.

Caddell said police do not have any indication of what might have caused Oates to swerve on the road, stressing that authorities are waiting for medical reports to be sent to them from Charlotte.

Boyce was the only person in the car, he said.
