— A Chester man told deputies he was shot twice — once in each leg— after a black car with tinted windows drove past him and the people inside started firing gunshots Tuesday night, according to authorities.

Deputies at about 11:30 p.m. were sent to a mobile home park on Chase Run, off the J.A. Cochran Bypass, after receiving calls that shots had been fired in the area, according to a Chester County Sheriff’s report. Dispatchers told officers a man had been shot in his leg. Once they arrived, deputies saw a man get inside an older-model blue car with chrome rims that pulled off.

The woman who called police told deputies that the man who got into the car was the gunshot victim, the report states. She explained she was inside her house when she heard the shots. The victim knocked on her back door and asked that she call 911. Deputies found three spent shell casings on Chase Run near Dottie Lane, the report states. Investigators went to Chester Regional Medical Center, where they learned the victim was Jarod Cherry, 26.

Cherry told investigators he was walking on Chase Run when a black Honda with tinted windows drove beside him and he heard gunshots, the report states. Cherry ran, but was hit twice, once in each leg. Deputies are still investigating.
