— An Indian Land teenager will not face criminal charges after deputies say he stabbed his mother's boyfriend in self-defense when the man allegedly attacked them two months ago.

On Feb. 16, deputies found Jimmie Adams, 47, of 1217 East Arrow Lake Court on the floor suffering from stab wounds after receiving calls about a domestic disturbance at the home, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.

He died while paramedics treated him for his injuries.

Investigators determined that Adams allegedly assaulted his live-in girlfriend, according to a news release. During the assault, the girlfriend's teenage son, 17, went to her defense. He too was assaulted, deputies said.

He armed himself with a knife and stabbed Adams, the release states.

Since the incident happened, no charges had been filed in the homicide, which shook neighbors in the typically peaceful Legacy Park subdvision.

After conferring with the Sixth Circuit Solicitor's Office, deputies said there was insufficient evidence to file criminal charges. They closed the case as a "justified homicide," officials said.
