Two men charged with illegal sexual activity at SC boat landing

April 19, 2014

— Two Columbia men were arrested Thursday for attempting to perform illicit sexual acts at a public boat landing near Irmo.

The two men — a 54-year-old and a 42-year-old — were charged with violating a Lexington County ordinance that prohibits persons from performing sexual acts in public. The case will be handled in magistrate’s court.

The two men were released from the Lexington County Detention Center on personal recognizance bonds.

Lexington County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the men during an undercover investigation in response to citizens’ complaints about illicit activity at the boat landing.

The two men each approached a deputy who was working undercover and offering to perform a sexual act. The deputy then arrested each man.
