Man finds gun, $118 cash in backpack on Dave Lyle Boulevard

— A York man found a loaded gun, ammunition and cash inside a backpack laying in the middle of Dave Lyle Boulevard near the Rock Hill Galleria.

The man was at the intersection of Dave Lyle and Galleria Boulevard Monday afternoon when he noticed the black bag. He turned around and picked up the bag, only to discover a loaded Glock 9mm with 13 rounds of ammunition inside, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

He called police, who checked the bag and found $118 in a front pouch.

Police determined the gun was not stolen.

A name tag with a phone number was attached to the bag, but when police called the number the man claimed to know nothing about the bag or gun. He said he had not been to Rock Hill in "a few months" and didn't know why his name or number was on the bag.

Police secured the weapon and placed it in evidence.
