— Police are investigating after a man was shot in his lower leg during a party outside a Lancaster home Wednesday night, authorities said.

Officers were sent to the 700 block of Central Avenue, off West Meeting Street, at about 11 p.m. after receiving word about shots fired, said Lancaster Police Capt. Scott Grant.

When investigators arrived, they found 20 to 30 people crowded outside the home, Grant said. Sometime during the gathering, shots rang out and a man, whose name and age were unavailable Thursday morning, was shot in his lower leg.

He was taken to a local hospital, but is expected to recover, Grant said.

Police spoke with witnesses at the party, but none of them claim to have seen anything that has helped authorities in their investigation.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call the Lancaster Police Department at (803) 283-1173.
