— A Rock Hill man was arrested early Friday after police say he shot a city street light with a pellet rifle at a Rock Hill apartment complex.

Police were sent to Carolina Crossing apartments on Dutchman Drive at about 12:30 a.m. after learning that several allegedly drunk people were outside an apartment unit with a pellet rifle they used to shoot out a street light, according to a Rock Hill police report. When officers arrived, a man identified as Timothy Robertson, 19, passed the rifle to another man who ran off behind the building.

Robertson and two others stayed behind, police said.

Officials say one of the teens tried hiding a 12-ounce can of Bud Light under the front of a car, while Robertson held onto some pellet rifle ammunition. Police detained Robertson, who admitted to shooting the street light and claimed no one else shot the gun, according to the report. Police arrested and cited the other two minors with consumption of beer under 21.

Robertson was arrested and charged with damage to city property.

The estimated damage to the light, police said, was $200.

Editor's note:An earlier version of this story had another person's mugshot photo. Timothy Robertson's picture is now posted.
