Sterling not as bad as Klan

A political cartoon of Clippers owner Donald Sterling as a KKK member? Really? The last time I checked, the Klan was anti-Semitic, and Sterling is Jewish.

Not only that, but Sterling stopped at making boneheaded comments (in private, I might add). I do not believe he has murdered any African-Americans like the Klan has.

While Sterling's comments were distasteful and unpopular, they were not criminal. Comparing a few racist comments to an organization that terrorized African-Americans is disrespectful to the actual victims of racial violence. The NBA players go home to their mansions and sleep soundly every night without any fear of being visited by a group of Klansmen.

Look who was at the fair

The April 30 Herald food section featured an Associated Press article on the 50th anniversary of the 1964 World's Fair in New York, titled “She sold Belgian waffles at the 1964 World’s Fair.” The article has an accompanying photo of four young women sitting on a bench eating the new, 1964 specialty food: Belgian waffles.

Guess what! The “young girl” third from the left is former, long-time Clover school board member and York County resident Windy Bartee of Clover.

The photo is a coincidence but I thought you’d like to know that it included one of York County’s own, my mother, as a 23-year-old girl.

Show us the data

The answer to the question in James Werrell’s column, “What will it take to convince climate-change skeptics?” is scientific data. There is none supporting “man-made climate change.”

When the model that predicted a large rise in the Earth’s temperature failed after India and China dumped tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and there was approximately one degree change in 17 years, what happened? Global warming disappeared and climate change was invented.

And guess what, the same solution fixes climate change. Destroy the U.S. economy by eliminating all use of carbon-based fuel. I'm sorry, the reason there are more and more skeptics is you have no science to support your power grab.
