— A York County man injured last week in a car crash in Lancaster County died on Monday after succumbing to his injuries.

Derek Boone, 42, of Catawba died in Charlotte, said Lancaster Chief Deputy Coroner Karla Deese. He had been hospitalized since May 2, when troopers say he was involved in a crash on S.C. 75 in Lancaster County, about six miles south of Fort Mill.

At about 6:43 p.m., Boone was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck west on S.C. 75 when he ran off the left side of the road and hit a ditch, said Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne. His truck then hit "multiple trees."

Boone was wearing a seat belt.

He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he died at about 5:10 a.m. Monday, troopers said.
