1 dead in Lancaster County crash

— One person is dead after a crash on Mcilwain Road in Lancaster on Sunday morning, according to Highway Patrol.

Westley Phillips, 26, of Kershaw died from injuries suffered in a crash at approximately 4:55 a.m. Sunday. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to Highway Patrol.

Phillips was driving a Mazda car south on Mcilwain Road when the car ran off the right side of the road. He over-corrected, veering into the left side of the road and crashing into a power pole and part of a bridge.

No other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash.
