— A Rock Hill man accused of attacking the mother of his children snatched the knife she tried using to defend herself and broke the blade after shoving her in their apartment and pulling her hair out on Monday, police say.

At about 8:20 a.m., street crimes officers were sent to a unit at Mallard Pointe apartments on Eden Terrace after receiving calls about a domestic violence incident, according to a Rock Hill police report. The victim, 28, told officers that Larico Javon Finch, the 35-year-old father of her children, forced open the front door by pushing against it with his shoulders and then grabbed and pushed her into a wall, knocking down a painting in the process.

Finch allegedly took the woman’s phone, the report states, and they began arguing over another man being at the house. The woman told officers Finch pulled her hair and punched her. She reported that some of her hair came out of her head from the force of the attack. She armed herself with a knife, but Finch took it from her and broke the would-be weapon. Finch left the apartment, causing about $500 in damage to the woman’s car by tugging on the door handle. Police estimate he caused about $800 to the woman’s front door.

Police tried finding him at his parent’s Midvale Avenue, where they noticed the smell of marijuana coming from a vent above the carport. Police searched the house and found about 47 grams of marijuana in the room Finch occasionally stayed in when visiting his parents. Police spoke with Finch by phone. He turned himself in to authorities and was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, criminal domestic violence and damage to property.
