Ballpark conditions postpone Big South baseball tournament games to Thursday

May 21, 2014

Due to unplayable field conditions at Winthrop Ballpark, the Big South Baseball Tournament was canceled Wednesday. All four games were postponed to Thursday after an automatic sprinkler malfunction overnight caused parts of the infield to flood.

The Thursday schedule will exactly resemble Wednesday’s originally planned slate of four games. No. 7 seed Charleston Southern will take on the No. 3 seed Campbell at 9:30 a.m., followed by No. 8 seed Gardner-Webb taking on Radford, the No. 5 seed, in the second of the two elimination games.

In the winner’s half of the bracket, No. 2 Winthrop will play No. 6 Coastal Carolina at 4:30 p.m. No. 1 Liberty and No. 4 High Point will follow 45 minutes after the first game. Continue to check www.winthropeagles.com and www.bigsouthsports.com for any further changes.
