YORK — Warrants have been issued for five young adults police say were involved in a string of egging incidents earlier this month in York.
According to a York Police report, a group of young men and women ages 18 to 21 will be charged with vandalism of property after throwing four cartons of eggs throughout neighborhoods in York.
Police identified the suspects by reviewing surveillance footage from a supermarket, which allegedly showed all five purchasing cartons of eggs on May 13 shortly before the incidents were reported to police.
Officers found an empty egg carton on the ground near one of several egged areas and tracked it to the local Bi-Lo.
Four of the five suspects are from York Keely Workman, 18; Chelsea Wetherspoon, 21; Kevon Moore, 20; and Jeremiah Gilfillan, 19. One suspect, William Doster, 21, is from Rock Hill.
All were questioned by police. Gilfillan, according to the report, is suspected of being the main participant and planner of this incident.
Several residents in the community reported the incidents to police, including some who said they had difficulty washing dried eggs off their cars.
