— A Rock Hill elementary school was placed on a preventative lockdown Wednesday afternoon while authorities search for a man accused of breaking into a vacant home.

Deputies with the York County Sheriff's Office and a K9 unit are tracking the suspect, who allegedly went inside an "unoccupied" house, said Trent Faris, Sheriff's Office spokesman.

The search has extended into city limits. School officials have placed nearby Old Pointe Elementary School on a preventative lockdown. The lockdown was lifted just before 3:30 p.m.
