ROCK HILL — A Rock Hill man with a suspended driver's license was arrested Tuesday after leading police on car chase followed by a brief foot pursuit, according to a Rock Hill Police report.
Police with the street crimes unit were patrolling the 100 block of North Jones Avenue at about 5:45 p.m. when they noticed a Kia Sportage with a cracked windshield and a defective third brake light, the report states.
Officers initiated their blue lights, but the driver didn't stop. Police then activated the sirens on the patrol car, but the man kept going, driving 20 mph while police followed. Officers could see the man punching his steering wheel and throwing his arms in the air, the report states.
The driver finally pulled over in the 700 block of Arch Drive, got out of his car and fled on foot. He ran through several front yards as the officer yelled for him to stop.
Police caught up with the driver, identified as Kenneth Bigham, 35, in the back yard of a home on Jones Avenue.
He was charged with failure to stop for blue lights, faulty equipment and driving under suspension - third offense.
