Fort Mill man's Internet date allegedly results in threats

June 16, 2014

— A Fort Mill man called police Thursday after an Internet dating romance turned into alleged threats of forced sex, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

The man, 35, said he met the 24-year-old woman on the Internet dating site Match.com and the two had several dates, according to the police report from the incident. Thursday, after the woman and the man had what the man told police was consensual sex at his apartment, the woman sent the man text messages “threatening to report what happened,” according to the report.

The man said he called police to get a report documenting the incident.

Deputies contacted the woman who said she was thinking of reporting something but said after declining to report to police her side of the incident “she was just going to let it go.”

No charges have been filed.
