— A Rock Hill man was cited with ill treatment of animals after police found his pit bull covered in flies and without fresh water or food.

Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of India Hook Road in Rock Hill at 4 p.m. Thursday to investigate a dog running loose. Police found the medium-sized pit bull named Little Man in his neighbor's yard turning over trash in search of food, according to a Rock Hill police report.

The dog wasn't vicious, but seemed territorial about the trash and his yard.

Animal Control was called to help trap Little Man.

Police noticed green algae and mosquito larva growing in the dog's water. They didn't see any food, the report states.

The owner, age 23, was cited and given seven days to improve the dog's living conditions.
