Live updates from Winthrop trustee meeting

June 26, 2014

Winthrop University trustees are meeting on campus today to decide whether to finalize firing President Jamie Comstock Williamson.

Nearly two weeks ago, Williamson was suspended and given notice of "termination with cause" amid the trustees’ allegations that the president has violated the S.C. Ethics Act, lied to trustees, and acted in an “explosive” and “hostile” manner toward campus employees.

Williamson declined an opportunity to speak publicly or privately with trustees at today's meeting. Through her attorney, she's refuted the trustees' allegations about her job performance and actions. And, she's threatened to sue Winthrop and individual trustees.
