Deputies: 3 inmate-on-inmate assaults reported at York Co. jail in 1 day

June 28, 2014

Three inmate assaults were reported at the York County Detention Center during a 24-hour period with one woman charged with assault when deputies say she attacked another inmate for no reason.

Early Wednesday, jail officers reported to deputies that a day earlier a woman, accused of violating her probation, complained about being sent to lockdown because she was loud. The woman told detention officers that if she was going to lockdown, she was going for a reason and she allegedly assaulted another inmate. On Saturday, she was charged with third-degree assault and battery, court records show.

In the other instances inmates in holding cells allegedly fought with each. In one instance authorities plan to review surveillance video to decide if charges should be filed against one fight suspect, already jailed on allegations of attempted murder.
