Surveillance video released of Rock Hill liquor store robbery

Staff ReportsJuly 1, 2014

— Deputies are investigating after they say a man walked inside a Rock Hill liquor store, threatened a clerk and took money from the register.

An unidentified man walked into the J&K Liquors Express store on North Anderson Road at about 3:50 p.m. Monday and spent several minutes looking around the store, as if he were a customer. Then he made a threat toward a clerk working behind the counter, authorities said.

The robber ordered the clerk to get on the floor, or he'd harm her with a weapon he did not show, according to a York County Sheriff's report.

The suspect took about $130 from the cash register, the report states. He also took bottles of alcohol as he fled on foot.

Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff's department released surveillance video. Investigators are asking if anyone can identify the suspect in the video to either contact Detective Mark Motz at 803-628-3103 or Crime Stoppers of York County at 1-877-409-4321.
