Rock Hill woman, 61, uses pocket knife to thwart robber

The HeraldJuly 2, 2014

— A 61-year-old Rock Hill woman pulled out a knife on a robber after he struck her in the head during an attempted strong armed robbery, according to a Rock Hill police report.

The victim had just gotten out of her car to visit a family member at a Friendship Drive home at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when a robber pushed her to the ground and demanded money, the report states.

She didn't have any cash, so the robber went to the passenger side of the vehicle, where another woman was setting. While he was trying to rob the passenger, the woman produced a small pocket knife and told the man to get away from them. He then got in his vehicle and fled.

The victim was able to identify the suspect, whose name was redacted on the report. He was listed as a 29-year-old Rock Hill man.
