Police said a Rock Hill woman was tortured and sold for sex in Fayetteville, N.C.
Police said 28-year-old Dakim "Gucci" Gregory convinced the victim to follow him to Fayetteville.
He befriended her, took her out a few times, built that trust, Lt. Tim Tew, with the Fayetteville Police Department, said. Seems to me that she was probably being groomed for what they did."
And life became horrible for the victim in Fayetteville.
There was an altercation at another hotel and he basically dumped her off on the two females that were arrested, Tew said.
Police believe Vanessa Robinson and Tiffany Lindsay were responsible for torturing the woman inside a room at a Days Inn.
They held her by gunpoint (and) she was, from what she tells us, forced to use drugs, Tew said. And they would not let her go until she'd made a certain amount of money based on sexual servitude to the people they were bringing in."
Police said the women went to the hotel pool on Monday and the victim was able to text a friend, who called police. Investigators said the story isn't unusual.
Channel 9 has been covering sex trafficking in the Carolinas for years now, especially in Charlotte.
Because interstates run through the city, it's easy for traffickers to pick up and leave with their victims. Just last month, an FBI operation put three accused traffickers behind bars.
