Tega Cay power restored after early morning outage

Overnight stormy weather left at least 1,700 people in Tega Cay without electricity this morning. Duke Energy crews restored power just before 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Crews worked to bring equipment back online after lightning struck a power line around 4 a.m., knocking out electricity for some residents.

During the outage, Tega Cay officials asked the city's TCUD-II customers to limit the amount of water they use while the power was out. The city's sewer pump stations do not have power and crews had to use pump trucks and generators on the system.
