Memorial Service today for Nation Ford's first valedictorian

— A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Unity Presbyterian Church to celebrate the life Mary Warner Mack, the first valedictorian at Nation Ford High School.

Mack, 23, of Fort Mill, passed away suddenly on July 3.

She was a 2009 graduate of Nation Ford High, which opened in 2007, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Clemson University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Spanish in 2013. Mack was employed by Bank of America and planned to attend the Georgia Tech Sam Nunn School of International Affairs in the fall.

A competi­tive gymnast, Mack won the South Carolina All-Around state title and in 2006, she represented South Carolina at the USA Gymnastics Regional Championship. Her survivors include her parents, Barry and Mary Mack; sisters, Libba and Bayles, all of Fort Mill; grandparents, Joan D. Tabb of Augusta, Ga., and Joanne A. Mack and B. Bayles Mack, both of Fort Mill. Her father is the current Fort Mill town attorney, a position her grandfather held for many years before retiring last year.

A reception will follow Sunday's service. Wolfe Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
