— Six shell casings lined the end of a driveway after residents in a Rock Hill neighborhood reported hearing about six or seven shots fired near their homes Sunday night as four shirtless men ran the opposite way, authorities say.

Police were sent to the 800 block of South Jones Street at about 9 p.m. after receiving calls about a large number of people gathered in the street, and neighbors hearing several shots in the area, according to a Rock Hill police report. By the time police arrived, the group dispersed and those left behind claimed they did not hear anything.

But, a woman living the Briarcliff neighborhood told officers her neighbor told her she saw four shirtless men hop over her chain-linked fence after hearing seven gunshots coming from Rockwood Drive, the report states. After jumping over the fence, the suspects continued to run as about six more gunshots were fired.

Police noted that the fence at the woman’s home was bent, the report states, and several links were damaged. Officers found six shell casings at the end of a nearby driveway. Police continue to investigate the incident.
