‘As You Like It’ this weekend at Winthrop University

Staff reportsJuly 17, 2014

Shakespeare Carolina Presents “As You Like It” 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and July 24-26 and 3 p.m. Sunday and July 27 at Johnson Hall at Winthrop University, 115 Johnson Hall, Rock Hill.

From the ostentatious and techno-driven world of the court, to the merry and idyllic Forest of Arden, “As You Like It” subverts the traditional rules of a romance. Forced into exile from court to forest, lovers Rosalind and Orlando become entangled in a game of love, lust, mistaken identity, and hilarious confusion of gender roles.

They play is directed by Sarah Provencal and feature Shakespeare Carolina veterans Nathan Rouse (Orlando de Boys), David Hayes (Oliver de Boys), Charles Holmes (Charles the Wrestler), Katie Bearden (Rosalind), Amy Arpan (Celia), S. Wilson Lee (Touchstone), David Hensley (Corin) and Ted Patterson (Jacques). Newcomers include Scott gru-Bell, Roshunda Anthony, Carley Walker, Mara Rosenberg, Amber Ellis, Kirsten Allen, Sean Johnson and Kylene Edson

Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for students at www.shakescar.org and the box office on show dates.
