Winthrop athletic director Tom Hickman announced the promotion of Hayes Galitski to head strength coach on Monday.

Galitski, who spent last year as an assistant strength coach at Winthrop, takes over for the departed Andy Kettler.

Before arriving at Winthrop, Galitski was a graduate assistant strength coach for Bowling Green from 2005-07, where he achieved a master's degree in developmental kinesiology.

Galitski did his undergraduate work at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa., where he was a student strength coach. On two different occasions, Galitski volunteered and interned with Penn State.

Galitski is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and is also CPR/First Aid Certified.
