CHARLOTTE -- The Carolina Panthers did the expected Tuesday, releasing safety Keith Lewis after his one-week stay.
He was signed last Wednesday night to fill the spot created by cornerback Dante Wesley's one-week suspension.
Lewis was in Charlotte because of his special teams experience, but he didn't even dress for Sunday's game against Buffalo, as the Panthers elected to just use cornerback C.J. Wilson instead.
More interestingly, they also made a move on the practice squad, signing tight end Jason Pociask.
The 26-year-old was a fifth-round pick by the New York Jets in 2006, and has spent time with New England, Tampa Bay and Indianapolis as well, most recently on the Colts practice squad.
In four career games, he has one catch for 7 yards. He's a substantial blocker, at 6-foot-3, 259 pounds. They also worked out former Atlanta tight end Martrez Milner, as they have a particular interest in the position.
The Panthers were looking because of the knee sprain suffered by Dante Rosario last week. It's not believed to be serious, but they place a high value on the position and like to have a full cupboard for practice anyway.
To make room for Pociask on the practice squad, they released defensive tackle Rashaad Duncan, who was signed last week.
