CHARLOTTE -- Carolina Panthers coach John Fox said Wednesday he’s sticking with beleaguered quarterback Jake Delhomme this week at Arizona, giving his long-time starter a chance to fix his season against the team that started this mess.
Delhomme hasn’t been the same since his five-interception game against the Cardinals in last year’s playoffs. Including that game, he has five touchdowns and 18 interceptions in his last seven starts.
Fox said early in the week he still believed Delhomme gave him his best chance to win a game.
In addition to being a boost for Delhomme, it also gives a clearer indication of their thoughts about backup Matt Moore.
Moore hasn’t played since his rookie year, when he went 2-1 in three starts down the stretch of the ridiculous 2007 campaign — which featured cameo appearances by Vinny Testaverde and David Carr. Going back to his senior year at Oregon State, Moore has won 10 of his previous 12 starts.
