The Great Falls Red Devils fought hard on the road, but couldn't get on the board. The Blue Devils, on the other hand, broke free in the fourth quarter, ending Great Falls' season in the first round of the Class A Division II playoffs.

Although Great Falls lost Region 3-A's automatic bid to the state football playoffs and lost the tiebreaker to Lewisville after the regular season ended Friday night, the Red Devils earned enough points to get the No. 8 and final seed in the Class A Division II Upper State bracket.
The Lewisville girls do not have the upcoming Class-A state playoffs to look forward to. The Lady Lions entered the contest already eliminated from contention.
It was more than fitting that the decisive play in a scoreless battle was made by the defense during the second period.
