Time to transport through a progressive portal via Order of Chaos Saturday at The Money, 111 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill. Grunge with heavy rock is stylishly distorted in the sound of this four-man band. The members are Matt, drums; Mrz, guitars; and Mims, bass; fronted by Allan “Nasty” Starnes. The band rocks an edge with Southern sass for a mesmeric manifestation.
Their myspace profile reveals song diversity — “Fall of Man” takes a somewhat Ministry stand, or is that White Zombie? “In The Day” is a throwback to some late ’60s psychedelic quandary, while “Land of the Boogieman” is a boogie rock throwdown. “Scarred” is some sort of crazy lost tribal trip, ancient and primeval, as if this band might create its own mythology.
The members maintain that they “called the band a name representative of the ultimate human desire and the ultimate human fallacy.” The sound is unruly with a meticulous systematic aim. Order of Chaos will perform with Coefficient of Restitution and Wells of Elam. Call The Money at 329-2710 or go to orderochaos music.com and myspace.com / orderofchaosband.

He was born Waylon Albright Jennings, but he’s better known as Shooter Jennings, and he will be returning Thursday to The Visulite Theater in Charlotte. The only child of country music icons Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, Shooter’s career might have seemed inevitable, but he took a roundabout route.
Jennings began with drums at 5, then piano lessons before taking up guitar at 14 and never looking back. Jennings recorded a few things with his dad, then took off on a rock tangent at 16, only to come full circle, finding his roots.
He has embraced the role of fortunate son. “I never felt like there was any kind of burden on my back. It was inevitable, being around music so much,” he told us in a phone interview for a previous Charlotte visit, adding, “I’ve just felt really lucky my whole life.”
His first solo album, “Put the O Back in Country,” (2005) was followed by “Electric Rodeo” and “Live at Irving Plaza,” both in 2006; and “The Wolf” in 2007. Jennings also made his screen debut, portraying his father in the Johnny Cash biopic “Walk the Line.”
Then, of course, there’s the touring and live performances, which he pitched as must see. “Our live show is the best part,” he declared. “We just go out and deliver every show.”
Be on the receiving side when Shooter Jennings delivers the musical goods at The Visulite Theater, 1615 Elizabeth Ave., Charlotte. Call the club at (704) 358-9200 or check visulite.com. For more on the music, go to shooterjennings.com.
